Good morning everyone. We had an interesting weekend, both of us having gotten to do something we had been looking forward to. For me, it was seeing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and for Myria, it was playing an Xbox game called The Indigo Prophecy.
Double disappointment
We might have been less shocked at the stinkiness of our weekend entertainment except for one thing. The critics and reviewers gave both my movie and Myria’s game better than average marks. Ugh....
These are the things I picked up last week. All of them are Classic Elite yarns.
Spotlight cotton
Provence and Flash
Wings
Have a great Monday!

oh, sorry about the movie experience- i’ve not seen that one but my kids loved it- maybe they like *any* movie!
the yarn goodies look delightful (face it, it’s hard to go really wrong with yarn when you aren’t buying for specifics) and the taupe and marl are especially interesting- note how i revert to that ‘neutral’ thing over and over- the spotlight color just says ‘robbyn’! it looks like you had a good shopping trip-
stay happy-
Barb - Well, I admit to being a bit biased myself but really. A movie should tell a coherent story. I admit I’m probably being a tiny bit unfair because I still miss Richard Harris as Dumbledore and never see Michael Gambon without clenching my teeth :)
Yes, the yarn was a fun find (even the neutrals!) and I hope to get back there after the first of the year sometime. And I’m hoping they’ll still have some of that lovely lilac Wings!
We saw “Goblet” and I can understand both sides of the fence - love it or hate it. I felt they probably did the best they could given the time constraints. As it was, it was a loooong movie. I think filming the books will only get harder since the books themselves have become darker & more dense, with too much backstory to reiterate every time. I think quite a few people were left in the dust with this installment.
You’re right on the money regarding Gambon - he just sets my teeth on edge!!!!
As always....pretty, pretty yarn! That’s a gorgeous shade of Spotlight!
Bron - That was all of that color they had. There were some dusty chocolate and some khaki balls and quite a lot of grey…
I was also disappointed in them all but skipping the Rita Skeeter business because Miranda Richardson could have been SO wonderful with it.
I laughed when I read your review of the movie. I went with my hubby who only saw the first two movies. Half the time he didn’t know what was going on. Finally, he said: “who is Sirius Black, and why is his head in the fire?”. I realized the movie never explained that part. I thought as you did but didn’t dare tell anyone that!
The yarns are gorgeous. It’s always great to walk away with a “find”.
Cheryl - I’m glad to hear that I wasn’t alone. I do realize that this book was quite long and the movie couldn’t possibly have presented every word. But I would have been a lot happier if what it did present was actually worth watching :)
Good morning to you! I have to agree with you on the movie. i love the plum colored yarn and thanks for the pattern that looks like a neat thing to make! How much smaller did you make your first one (how many stitches)? Ahhh, yarn pictures..all look great!
PJ - Sorry - I don’t have any hard figures. I just made all the pieces about 1/3 the size the pattern called for - you know - being consistent with front and back and so forth. Worked out fine :)
