First, I want to thank yesterday’s commenters for sharing their thoughts about cables and variegated yarns. I really appreciate the feedback as it helped me to “see” the swatch more objectively. More than that, though, it helped me to see which way I was leaning. I do want to make the hat using the Waterspun and I do want the cable. After thinking about it overnight, I believe I’m going to give it a shot anyway. Funny how just making the decision makes me feel...I don’t know...sort of gleeful? Heheh… Not like it’s an earth-shattering event or anything, it’s just pleasure at not being stuck any more :)
And, thanks to Bron’s timely post yesterday, I’m going to get off my duff and start something I’ve been mulling over for quite a while.
Some time ago, I bought this:
Madil Kid Seta
Table centerpiece
Gorgeousity!
As I think about getting started, I’m getting more and more into the idea. This is going to be awesome - and beautiful!
So - one hat and one shawl to start today and a much improved outlook from yesterday. Not so bad, you know?

Oh my, that is luscious beyond words. I like the Waterspun with the cable, too. Go for it! Can’t wait to see that pink cloud engulf you as a shawl!
Hi Robbyn, I am also aging some lace-weight silk and wool that I won at Stitches West. I am afraid I’ll snag it on my rough fingers, and also have to build up to the challenge of knitting lace. By the way, thanks for the instructions on picking up dropped stitches without a crochet hook. Came in real handy yesterday!
I love your flying sheep. Where do you get your graphics please?
Margene - Thanks for the encouragement! The Madil is so luscious I’m surprised it doesn’t complain at being confined to my crummy apartment :)
Rob - St. Ives makes a skin cream called “Intensive Healing”. It’s non-greasy, has no scent (that I can pick up, but my cats hate it), works very, very well and lasts all day. I use it all the time and even more often when I’m working on something delicate! Glad you found the tip useful :)
Pam - I get a lot of them from this French site:
http://www.yatoula.com/gif/pages/gif.html They’ve got tons of fun stuff!
The Kid Seta is, indeed, gorgeous. About 2 years ago I made a circular shawl (Cherry Blossom Shawl Interweave Knits) using the same yarn and it was a wonderful yarn to knit with. The shawl went fairly quickly and I was actually surprised at how quickly I finished it. You’ll enjoy working with the yarn.
Thanks Cheryl, that’s good to hear. It really feels amazing!
