As it was cool last evening, I was able to do a little more of the kimono - only two more repeats and the body will be mostly done.
A bit of progress
I’d like to tell you that I’ll be working on this over the weekend, but since the temperatures are going back up into the 90s tomorrow, I don’t think it’s likely. Oh, well…
I also managed a few more repeats on the scarf, though work on this isn’t temperature sensitive :) Even though the vintage mohair is quite warm, the scarf doesn’t make a huge, hot pile in my lap so I can pretty much work on it any time.
What do you think - Sea Scarf or Seaweed Scarf?
Tip of the iceberg
And Jade gave me an interesting photo this morning. She had already had her breakfast at this point, but clearly she wouldn’t have minded a little snack :)
Jade, contemplating squirrel
No trackbacks yet.
why, your work area is positively neat!!
re the decision of the eminent judges: i’m just glad we live in the boonies and *nothing* will ever be built this way- i’m either too old or too cranky to move!!
i don’t think the scarf will be too wide even with edging as the lovely mohair is cushy and will sorta smoosh up (cushy and smoosh are technical terms!) to ‘fit’ as needed- oh, it’s going to be a beauty-
stay happy-
Barb - Heh, my work area is neat? I must tell Myria that you think so :)
Now I need to think about what kind of edging might be appropriate. And I love your technical terms :)
That’s one very porky squirrel. I’m not surprised Jade thought it would make a tasty snack.
Pam - Yep :) We grow ‘em big around here!
Seafoam scarf - the color looks like the wisps that come off of really large waves :-)
Ooooh, Kathy! That’s called “spindrift” and that’s the perfect name! Thanks a whole bunch :)
The kimono jacket is really coming along. I love the pattern for the scarf. What is the name of the yarn for that scarf? You seem to have an endless supply...lol. It is gorgeous yarn for sure.
Maureen - Heh-The yarn is Bucilla Melody and hasn’t been made for some time. I lucked into a 14 ball cache of the stuff last year and was able to acquire it for $1/ball. I had thought the snowdrop would use up most of it, but I wound up with 5 remaining balls. Works up beautifully, washes and blocks wonderfully - what’s not to like?
I have to have everything out where I can see it too - that’s why I switched my stash from bins to closet shelves. :) We don’t have a coffee table simply because I’d load it with junk (books, yarn, etc) and it always looked unsightly. Now my Krate King takes most of the load. ;)
Frog closures - definitely! I think they’ll look smashing, dahlink!
Bron - I hear ya, about loading up the table :) What you can’t see in that picture is the pile of books at the other end - heh :)
I’ve been looking at knot tying sites all morning with an eye to making frogs...ribbit, ribbit, ribbit…
Your knitting is cool, so’s your work area and the kitty. But what caught my eye was your floor and the neat details of your baseboards and door trims. I’m so architecturely deprived here.
Weather wise down here in LA, how can we be in a drought and still have so much humidity? I’m thinking drought=no moisture, but sadly, NO! Up to a couple years ago it used to rain each and every afternoon during the spring and summer, like we were in the rain forest. Alas, no more.
Aarlene - As apartments go, this is better than most. It’s an old converted Victorian house and, while it can be a bit peculiar in ways, in terms of aesthetics it’s head and shoulders above anything built after WWII.
I get what you mean about drought - I would find that very confusing given the relative humidity in your part of the world. Glad you finally got some rain!
LOL, a knotty girl on a Saturday night, Perfect!
Squirrel, it’s not just for breakfast anymore.
I’m sure you can find everything in your work pile. That’s how organized minds work!
Laurie - Yes, yes I can find anything. But displace it byh so much as an inch and I’m lost.
Jade may think squirrels arne’t just for breakfast any more, but she’s still going to get Little Friskies :)
