And, without further ado, may I present…
The Cable Cuff Mitten

I celebrated last night by crocheting 6 more squares for my afghan :)
I’ll probably do the second mitten over the weekend. I will post the pattern, but I’m afraid it’s going to be for my size hand (big) hand. If I post my notes and thought process, maybe that will help anyone else who’d like to give this a try? It really isn’t difficult; it is a bit involved though :)
I’m off with my dad this afternoon to try a restaurant in Uxbridge, MA called “The Cock and Kettle” (You there in the back - stop snickering!). Coincidentally, Uxbridge is where the Berroco yarn mills are. Hmmmm… Are you pondering what I’m pondering, Pinky? If we have the time, and if Dad’s game, maybe we’ll have a look around…
Have a wonderful Friday, my best to you all -
And a great weekend too - the first of the fall!
No trackbacks yet.
What a wonderful job Robbyn!!!! You should be very proud of yourself. Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together(who said that)? I think it is a great mitten. I look forward to seeing the whole ensemble. I LOVE your pic of “Nubble Lighthouse”. It is one of my very favorite places in the world. It is about 20 minutes from my house. We were just over there two weeks ago. I love to go there in the winter too.Hope you had a great lunch with your dad.
my first thought was exactly what maureen wrote ‘don’t you just love it when a plan comes together’! the mitten is wonderful and i really like the gauntlet length- the mittens should give you a lot of pleasure in both the process and the product- taking an idea that is just simmering around in the back of your head and seeing it actually turn into a finished product is so much more rewarding than just copying the ideas of others-
i hope you enjoy your lunch jaunt and find many delightful items for stash enrichment- perhsps the perfect brights for the afghan will find their way home with you-
when i lived in georgia there were wonderful mill-end outlets run by textile mills- the hours spent digging about through the goodies there were delightful- treasures for only cents per yard!
stay happy-
Hmmmm...Grasshopper....What is the sound of a single mitten clapping????
Congrats & great job! Post the pattern as is - I have monster hands & can use it.
Hope you had fun at lunch (snicker, snicker), AND that you found more pink yarn at the mill!
Maureen - Nubble light is one of my favorite places too - about an hour from my home. We stop by there all times of the year to look and dream and feed the greedy gulls :)
Barb - You’re absolutely right - digging something out of the back of your brain and making it work is enormously satisfying :) Probably why I can’t follow a pattern as written, and often just waltz out on my own :)
Bron - I’ll try to get it in shape over the weekend. It would be just awesome to see what somebody else does with the pattern! And why did I know it was you doing the snickering?
Thank you all for your very kind comments! It’s very nice to know that someone besides me thinks it looks nice.
No stash enrichment occurred - Turns out that Berroco is only an importer/distributor. We did drive by the old Stanley woolen mills where the original business was, but it’s long abandoned for the most part. C’est la vie :)
Oh, and I associate that line “I love it when a plan comes together” with Hannibal - the George Peppard charachter from “The A Team”.
That’s a lovely mitten! I like the cabling details.
Siow Chin - THanks very much - it was great fun to do!
