Scored a few hanks of the good stuff yesterday, marked down to about 25% of it’s usual price. Yippee, Yee-hah and all that! ‘Course the color selection was a mite limited (though the colors they had were nice) but that’s just fine.

October colors
It’s Classic Elite Wings, 55% Alpaca, 23% silk and 22% wool. It’s also described as having a hollow core so it should be nice and warm. I love finding good wool at bargain basement prices and this goes into my Dulaan knitting stash.
Of course I couldn’t leave it alone and had to start something :)

Hat in progress
The main hat is a deep plum/brown (there was only one hank of that, which is why it’s not in the yarn picture - it’s being used for the hat!) and I plan on using the butternut for a little diamond fair isle kind of border and for assorted trim and what not. I may do a little bit of the top of the cap in it too.
Hey Ryan! Any word yet on Dulann 2006?
Otherwise, there isn’t a lot to report just now. The lace scarf will, hopefully, be done by Monday and I will post pictures and pattern for that. The sock is ready to have its heel turned and so I’m getting ready to do that. I believe I’d like to try a round heel if I can find instructions for it.
The baby alpaca/rayon scarf is just sitting on the coffee table, glowing. I work a couple pattern repeats every now and again on this, but I’m taking my time. Once it’s completed and washed, blocked, dried and put way, I won’t have the pleasure of looking up and seeing it all the time, shimmering in my peripheral vision.
Have a great weekend everyone :)
No trackbacks yet.
yum- alpaca, silk, and wool- what’s *not* to like! you always find the best bargains-
seeing the hat in progress and the pretty autumn colors does make our heat a bit more tolerable-
i’ve got a start on dulaan ii here also- i’m going to try to match everything i make for use here or gift-giving with an item for the ‘dulaan box’- we’ll see if i can carry out the plan- and think of the stash i can use up (aha, i’ve already justified buying more, more, more to replace it)-
stay happy-
Dulaan-wise, let’s just say, stay tuned. Wink, wink.
Barb - DEfinitely fall colors and that, coupled with the 63 degree mornings we’ve been having lately - well we’ve definitely turned a corner. It mat not actually be autumn yet, but you can see it from here :)
Ryan - Okay, I’ll stay tuned. But don’t tease for too long or I’ll have to come over there and hurt you :)
What gorgeous colors you scored. I love a bargain too. What great progress on your sock. I knew you would figure it all out.I know there is a round heel instruction for a toe up sock out in cyberspace. I would like to knit a few things for the next Dulaan project. I am working on hats and mittens for the “Hat and Mitten Tree” we put up at the shop. I give everything to the local homeless shelter. It was a huge success last year.
Maureen - I never even thought I’d knit socks - never believed that I could handle DPNs. Funny how things change.
Your hat and mitten tree sounds like a wonderful thing!
ooh yummy yarn. That dark plum calls to me. Ohhh the dulaan guilt. I didn’t get my box mailed…any cold weather injuries this winter will be directly attributable to me. I think I’ll start mailing them a small box each month so I won’t have this catastrophe next year.
Aarlene - No guilt allowed - please don’t feel bad. I also had the idea that mailing off small boxes every now and again would be a good idea this year :)
I like the plum too, but even more surprising, I like that burnt orange. Just never been an orange girl myself, but that’s a real rich color :)
I LOVE those yarn colors!
And there’s nothing wrong with appreciating a glowing scarf - unless it’s radioactive.
Laurie - Heheh…No, I don’t think it’s radioactive. Wait, let me get my geiger counter and check…
