I went out yesterday, hoping to find yarn, among other things. I didn’t think I was searching for anything in particular but several skeins of Cascade 220 wouldn’t have gone amiss :) Unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be. The Mill shop was out of every color but grey and denim blue and my little Country Shop has either retired or just plain gone out of business. That left the Downtown shop which I really don’t care for so I gave it up as a bad job.
Also, I had seriously hoped to have gotten the sweater done past the sleeve holes, but you know about the life getting in the way thing :) I would like to get to wear the thing this winter at least once! With luck, I may have something to show on Friday. I’m beginning to suspect I bought way more yarn than I’m going to need to complete the garment - I mean like I could make Myria a matching cardigan kind of “more”. LOL! Still, I guess that’s not necessarily a bad thing, eh? By the time I’m finished with this, I’ll have a rough idea of how much yarn I really do need for a basic pullover for myself and that’s useful information to have. If there’s really tons of yarn leftover, I can always make a shawl, hat and mitts to go with it :)
Just so you know I don’t always suffer from second sock/mitt syndrome…
In addition, there is a slightly funky but gorgeously colored skinny scarf…
Amongst all yesterday’s running around, I decided to treat myself to this:
No trackbacks yet.
Socks and scarf look great! I keep going back and forth on whether I want that book… hm....
Cute socks and scarf! I opened that book, thinking the same thing, but was impressed at the number of things I’d actually make in it. Not a bad thing to have on the shelf at all.
aha, grey and denim blue- you were looking in my comfort zone weren’t you! i’ve looked at that book online and dilly-dallied about ordering it myself- the sound of actually *finishing* something from one skein is most enticing-
i can’t wait to see more of your sweater-
the little socks are so nice- they look warm and comfy, and after looking at the pics of the dulaan recipients i know they will be most welcome-
stay happy-
I made one of the scarves from this book - the mini-shawl type thingy, with lace points around the edge.
Turned out well, and I had no difficulties with the pattern.
Hi Kat :) - Well, I haven’t actually made anything from it yet, but have been mindful of the need to intersperse lomng stretches on the sweater with small projects. This book seems to fit the bill.
Kathy - Yeah, I think it’s going to be as useful for the possible ideas I can glean as for the actual projects themselves. It was all I could do to restrain myself last night, from casting on for two or three things all at once! LOL!
Barb - I did look long and thoughtfully at the grey with an idea of overdying but finally decided, since it was a medium tone, that whatever colors I went for would be extremely muted.
And that’s not really what I want :)
The denim blue wasn’t bad actually, but when you’ve got your mouth set for warm colors blue just doesn’t do the trick!
Diane - Thanks for the comments on the scarf. If it’s the one I’m thinking about, that’s one I want to try. It’s nice to know that another knitter had good luck with it :)
I love those socks! They are so cute. That scarf is really cool too.
that book isn’t one that I’d think of buying but I’d surely borrow it Local Library if they had it. Maybe I should suggest it.
Yep - I’m definitely going to make a few of those One Skein Wonders patterns come January...or heck, even in December if I can get a couple of large projects off my plate. I especially like all the little shawl patterns…
Opal - I’m, a seed stitch addict - what can I say? I think I will try a longer cuff next time though :)
Catsmum - It would be a great library book - definitely suggest it :) Not only are the projects one-skein, but you could probably whip through several of them during your allotted time with the book :)
Bron - The little shawls and the lace scarves are actually what sold me - but I’m fond of several of the hats too :) Oh and there’s a linen stitch clutch that I think I have to make so it can get lost on my next trip! LOL!
