Nothing serious. I just woke up this morning with a screaming sinus headache and can’t seem to wrap my mind around much coherence.
I did receive my yarn and needles on Saturday. I was pleased to see that the yarn, though I hadn’t expected it, was the same lot as the yarn from my previous order. I mean, I figured it was the Bare (to be dyed) stuff - how much difference could there be, really? Still, it’s nice to know that I won’t have to worry about even slight color variations.
And the needles are to die for. I ordered Knitpicks’ 8” double points in sizes 8 (5 mm) and 10 (5.75 mm) and they are lovely.
Now all I have to do is summon enough motivation to do something with them - and that’s probably not going to happen today.
Now, if you all will excuse me, I think I’m going to go lay back down for a while :) Have a good Monday!

sorry to hear you have the yucks- i am one of the few, the fortunate, unaffected with sinus woes, but i think we reside in ‘sinus central’ and all around me are people who are constantly beset by the hacking, sniffing, and wheezing that sinus problems cause- it seems to be one of those things tht *nothing* really cures and time/rest is the best thing for relieving symptoms-
glad your yarn and needles arrived- i’ve always been satisfied with the service from knitpicks- they may not be the very speediest around, but they are reliable and are always willing to correct any errors-
such pretty bunnies in the pic- i will whet your curiosity with the following statement: the burrito has a new companion- ha, that sounds positively cryptic- more about it later-
stay happy-
Get better soon. I too suffer from sinus headaches and I know how it is hard to function, especially when you have to go to work and face up to 30 little monster who seem to enjoy seeing you down… sigh. I always thought size 10 corresponded to the 6 mms needles here in Italy we do not have 5.75 ones.
I’m so sorry to hear about your sinus headache. Those are terrible. I woke up this morning with the sniffles. Maybe the two of us should set up a sick ward. Do you think then that people will send us gifts of yarn to speed up our recovery? ;-)
Barb - I completely agree with you about Knitpicks. And since I know things aren’t apt to get here at light speed, I allow for that in my orders.
So Burrito has a new companion, eh? Are we looking at potential little Burritos?
Note to self: Hmmm...she was looking at the bunny picture when she mentioned the little goat’s new roomate...
Laura - I don’t have any real experience with it - not having gotten European or Japanese needles - but I gather sizing systems vary considerably.
It’s entirely possible that Europe does have a 6mm needle. According to my needle sizer, a size 10 needle = 5.75mm. The next size up is a size 10 1/2 which is a 6.5mm needle.
Why it goes from 10 to 10 1/2, I couldn’t say :)
Opal - I suspect our friends, yours and mine, knowing us as they do (that is, they know we knit), would spot that as the ploy it is :)
Besides, I doubt yarn would cure colds or sinus woes. Still - it sure would be fun to try!
I do hope you’re feeling better. Last time I had a sinus migraine (yes, I get those occasionally), my doctor told me to take two extra strength tylenol, two extra strength advil and some gravol. Darned if it didn’t work like a hot damn!
Ev - Good Lord! That handful, combined with the stuff I’m already taking would shoot me right into the stratosphere!
On the other hand, there are days when that might be fun :)
I am sorry you aren’t feeling well. I have also been fighting the sinus woes for a couple of weeks post having a cold. I have found rinsing the sinuses with saline with a sinus Rinse or neti pot makes a world of difference. I have not had a sinus infection reach the point of having to go to the doctor or just wanting someone to drill a hole in my head to relieve the pressure since I started using it. It feels weird until you get use to it but it does help.
I have had good service from Knitpicks, with a usual turn around of about 3-4 days for my order. I have to place an order today for some yarn. I ran out while working on a sweater.
Hope your sinus ills go away soon. The change is seasons gets me every year!
Are the bunnys sporting the evil red eye for Halloween?? The first Halloween decoration at your home?
Wendy - This is the second time I’ve heard someone talk about the relief to be had from using a neti pot. I’m really going to have to look into that. This year was particularly bad, sinus-wise and a non-medicinal remedy would have been most welcome :)
Thanks for the tip!
Kim - the devil bunnies turn into bats at twilight :) Not to be scared or anything - they only eat Twinkies…
...’course their dentist bills are horrendous!
hope that you are feeling 100 percent really really soon!
love
nat
Nat - doing better now - thanks sweetie!
I hope you’re feeling better!
