Mitts and Crystal

Myself, I’m pleased.  The forecast for this area had been rain but the rain came through last night, probably as a consequence of the semi-fierce winds that have been scouring the area for the last few days.  So today the sky is blue and clear, the sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day.  This is all very cool by me :)

Myria took advantage of the low sun the other day to take some pictures of my large quartz cluster.  It’s a beautiful piece and she’s such a good photographer!

Crystal cluster

One of many clusters

The above photo makes me wonder what it might be like to live in such a landscape.  It would be spectacularly beautiful, but cold, I suspect.

Crystal Cave

Crystal Cave

One could live in this little cave, here.  All it needs is a beaded curtain and a “Beware of Dragons” sign :)

The mitts are finished and the pattern is on the sidebar.  Myria suggested the name “The Someone-Stole-the-Fingers-from-my-Gloves Gloves” and I thought that was perfect - so that’s what they are called.

Finished mitts

The pair of them :)

As always, please let me know if anything is wrong or unclear; I’ll do whatever I can to help.

And, as always, have a fun and relaxing weekend!

  1. Oh, your crystal cluster is so pretty!  and the gloves with the lost fingers are awesome.  I love the stitch that you used.  I don’t knit (I’m a crocheter) but seeing stuff like yours makes me wish I did.  Great color, too.  Have a great weekend!

  2. Lovely crystal…definitely right up Merlin’s alley.

The mitts are worthy of Guinevere.

    Happy weekend!

  4. Dawn - If you ever want to knit, these would make a good project for you as they’re simple.  But they’d be simple to crochet too, wouldn’t they?  Hmmm…that might be something to try!

Bron - Thanks and thanks!  I was thinking of your Guenivere’s Bower bag while I was working on them and Myria thought I should be holding a sword for the pictures :)

Deb - Thanks - quartz is about my favorite and I was lucky to get a piece like this :)

  5. the finished non-gloves are great- and thanks for sharing the pattern-

that crystal is just incredible- i love its clean and icy look- i have bowls and baskets of petrified wood as well as some interesting agates and uncut topaz- also a big bowl of ‘pretty rocks’ picked up by the children when they were young- i figure if i am accused frequently of having rocks in my head i might as well have some out for display purposes too-

hope you have a bright weekend to enjoy- stay happy-

  7. Barb - Heheh, rocks are fun to collect.  I have bowls of them too - and the bowls are themselves agate.

    Enjoy the pattern :)

Pam - Yes it is - especially when it’s sitting in the sun.  Poor thing needs a good cleaning though :)

  9. Maureen - Well, I can’t take credit for the crystal, but I sure do appreciate it’s beauty.

The mitts were just fun :)  I see more in my future!
