Some actual knitting has been accomplished! I decided that while I was working on the Chinese Waves Shawl, I would also work on some Dulaan stuff which I have been ignoring for a while. And wouldn’t you know it, Miss Ryan of Mossy Cottage provided a couple of links to appropriate things!
How about these Mini-Basket weave Toddler’s Socks? They are just as cute as can be and they’re simple and fast.

Pop makes her debut
As of this week, the blog has gone to a Monday-Wednesday-Friday format. I think this will work well for me and, hopefully, for you folks as well.
Have a great weekend!
No trackbacks yet.
let me advocate for teeny tiny red socks to warm teeny tiny gerbil tootsies- well, okay, maybe not-
i really need to get back into the ‘dulaan mode’ and i’d looked at those socks ryan made and thought those might be the next thing- is the classic elite wings a dk or are those from a worsted weight? i have waaay too much dk weight stash around and i’d love to use it for cute little toddler socks-
stay happy-
Barb - Unfortunately, Wings is worsted weight and that’s what the pattern calls for. But the pattern also wants size 5 needles so you could maybe get away with it - especially if your DK is a little on the husky side?
You should so dress up your hamsters! Check this out: http://www.house-mouse.com/
Oh my the mental images of those cute little guys in red sweaters is just hysterical, good thing I didn’t knit when I had my hamster I might have tried something like that...I keep thinking about knitting up something for my cats, but I think I would pay for it dearly.
Awww...those are the cutest little socks, with even cuter wee hampsters pictured below! And now I’m seeing them in wee bonnets and socks...it’s a sickness ;-)
Those little socks are sweet. Lucky toddler who gets them! I’m so glad to get a glimpse of Pop - she’s every bit as cute as Snap and Crackle.
Isn’t that sock pattern great? Simple but fun and rewarding.
Still lovin’ the new family members! I didn’t ever clothe my hamsters, but I did make a harness for one once out of felt and Velcro so that I could put him on a string leash and let him wander around the halls of my dorm if he so desired.
Toni - That’s a cute bunch of stuff! I closed the page quickly though as I don’t want to be tempted :)
Oh Marie! I just got back from grocery shopping and I saw a Halloween card in the store that was just hysterical! There was a cat wearing a mask on the front saying, “Happy Halloween!” Inside, it said “Now, get the damn mask off me or I’ll have to hurt you.”
Kathy - Bonnets? Oh Lord, that’s almost too cute to bear! But you know, even if I went to the trouble, I’d never get the garments on the quirmy little things!
Pam - Yes she is; they’re all just adorable/ It’s becoming clear, however, that Snap is going to rule this particular roost - bossy little thing :)
Ryan - I’m so glad you posted that link - these socks are just wonderful and they’re so simple they almost seem to knit themselves!
A harness, eh? That’s pretty creative!
Oh, your gerbils are adorable. Congratulations! I have seen little, enclosed plastic houses wherein you can place sand for them to dig - don’t they enjoy that, being desert-dwellers by nature? Good luck with them! (SOME day I will turn you on to ratties...) ;)
Thanks for the eggplant recipe, too - Jeff brought one home in the organic box today and I was wondering what to do with it. :)
Stasia - I’ve never heard about sand for gerbils though I know degus and chinchilla like to have some to “bathe” in. I’ll have to look into it.
I hope you like the recipe; it sure went over well here :) Eggplant - yummy!
Darling socks. I need to get started on my next Dulaan box too. :)
You know - even I might like rodents in red sweaters! (Doesn’t that sound like a children’s book title? hehe)
Bron - It does sound like a children’s book! It’s be a cute one too :)
