In the Pink!!

Busy, busy, busy….

Bron advised me to make sure I left some time for craftwork.  Unfortunately, that’s not happening.  Hopefully I will be able to spend some time this weekend working on a few things.

First, sice you all accompanied me through the making of these things, I think it’s only fair to let you how it all worked out.  My friend’s birthday was yesterday and she loved the “White Sapphire” doily.  At the last minute, I kind of didn’t feel it was enough, so I packed up the Waterspun hat, mittens and scarf as well.  When she saw the mittens, she practically got up and danced and then she put everything on (did I mention that we were sitting in a restaurant?) and went around to show everyone in the dining room.  I’m still blushing I think, but it was very nice to know she was pleased.

I will be making another set for myself out of this:

Classic Elite Waterspun in deep pink

Deep pink Waterspun

As much as I loved the variegated yarn, I like this color a lot better and I’m tickled to have an excuse to make another Pinwheel hat which is a fun project.

Speaking of that, you’ll find the pattern for the Pinwheel hat on the sidebar under patterns.  I have not been able to find out where it came from, so I’ve posted it - for now.  If this is your pattern, or you know of its origins, please let me know?  Thanks :)

I also ordered this from Elann:

White Buffalo unspun in Ice Rose

While I haven’t ordered from Elann before, I have been lusting after many of their yarns for a while now.  And I know enough people who have ordered from them to feel comfortable doing so myself :)  I think the White Buffalo and the Waterspun will go nicely together :)

And that’s about it.  Hope you all have wonderfully fun and pleasant weekends :)

  1. wow, you did give birthday treasures- i’m glad they were so joyfully received- it makes all the frogging and finagling (is ‘finagle’ a word?) worthwhile to see things appreciated-

the ‘ice rose’ color is lovely and will be beautiful with the deeper pink- i’ve always had excellent service from elann- my only problem with them is that i can’t buy everything i see and crave there- they always have something i think i ‘must have’ so i try to limit my online ‘window shopping’ at their site-

    stay happy-

  2. I always have wonderful and fast service from Elann. Barb in Texas is right…Elann can be addicting. Love the colors of yarn you are choosing. What a lucky friend to have received such treasures.

  3. Barb - Thanks for the vote for Elann.  I placed this order with some trepidation as I can see it being the beginning of an enormous addiction.  Hopefully I’ll be able to control myself :)

And yes, all the frogging and fingaling was worthwhile - but it would have been anyways as this woman has been an “above and beyond” kind of friend :)

  4. Maureen - I’m glad to hear your experiences with Elann have also been good.  Dealing with them opens up worlds of material I wouldn’t otherwise have access to.  Now I just have to be patient until my yarn gets here - I want it now!

  5. I have a major elann.com habit going and have been drooling over the Waterspun.  They were also showing another yarn in their newsletter—much cheaper—that looked good too, that will be going on sale on Aug. 31. THAT’S PAYDAY.  But I have one project on needles with elann.com yarn, and 3 others stashed….

  6. Rob - Heh; your projects always seem so organized while mine just seem to “happen” :)  I’m really going to miss the Waterspun when it’s gone - such nice stuff.

  7. It’s wonderful to hear how your gifts were received - I know how happy that made you. I don’t think there’s a better feeling in the world.  thumbsup.gif width=23 height=18

LOVE the pinks! And you’ll love Elann. I’ll plug their customer service: When I had a problem with the Pakucho cotton last year they really went the extra mile to fix it for me. I’ve also returned yarn twice with absolutely no problem. Sooo….welcome to the Elann junkie club! Only the best are members, you know.  wink.gif width=15 height=15

  9. Bron - I must admit, the reception of the wool set it was quite gratifying :)

Thanks for letting me know that Elann’s customer service is good too - hopefully, I’ll never have to worry about it - but it’s good to know if there ever are problems, they’re good about it.

Now, by “only the best”, do you mean only everyone who’s ever heard about them?  grin2.gif width=15 height=15

  10. I think Elann has the best customer service, bar none.  They also ship very fast.  Once I had purchased some yarn intending to use one of their free patterns.  By the time I got around to using the yarn, the pattern was no longer listed.  I emailed and she mailed me a copy right away!

Is there anything better than giving handknitted gifts to someone who really appreciates them?

  11. Bliss - Having both the joy of creating and the joy of giving - well, no - not much feels better than that :)

  12. Pam - Covered bridges used to be fairly common here in New England and there are still a few of them left.  I love the look of them :)

  13. Of course, Robbyn. :) Just like the Borg, resistance is futile when it comes to Elann. Everyone who hears of them must, someday, place an order. hehehehehe

Mine *should* be in today. Woohoo!

  14. Hi! Wow, you have been BUSY since I was last here (I’d visit more often but for some reason it takes me ages to load your Blog - poo!) The covered bridge photo is lovely. Did you get a new kitty? I missed that - congratulations! They’re both so lovely! I am so pleased that your gift was received in a manner befitting its wondrousness! <g> Have a LOVELY day! animal-smiley-048.gif width=39 height=23

  15. Hi Stasia - Sorry the blog loads slowly for you, I guess I do tend to be a bit photo-heavy :)

The new cat and the old cat constantly engage in testing one another’s boundaries.  Thank goodness things don’t get violent, though they do get LOUD on occassion :)
