There’s a new post at The Dye Pot. The new yarn is called Ibis…
It was a real quiet weekend here. In fact I spent most of yesterday reading - trying to finish - the last of Robin Hobbs’ The Tawny Man trilogy, Fool’s Fate. Bron - does this one seem to go on and on and on? I have really liked this series and have, more or less, read it straight through but this last book seems to fall a little short by actually being a lot too long.
I have finished the first sleeve of autumn Seeds and the second is under way :)
Another washcloth done (yawn)…
Then I went rummaging through the stash for that splendid red yarn I mentioned in last Wednesday’s post? The one I’d like to use to make Myria something for Valentine’s day :) The problem is that the word stash sounds like a single, consolidated thing when the reality is that there are quantities of stash in three different places in the apartment.
Of course I could find the yarn I had purchased at the same time as the red - in fact the current dye project is part of that acquisition. But do you think I could find this? I must have gone through things three times before I finally discovered it lurking at the bottom of one of the bags under the coffee table.
No trackbacks yet.
You mean I’m not the only one who’s stash isn’t all in one place or organized? Well, mine is, technically, all in one place as it’s all in the garage at the moment. But organized? HA! There are things I know I have, but trying to find them is next to impossible.
I love the yarn colour, by the way. It looks cheerful and bright.
Store ... stash? Um. Well, I have a sewing room. And when I buy yarn that I’m not intending to use right away, I ... er, toss the yarn into the room and close the door quickly ....
okay, the ‘ibis’ is definitely to dye (another bad pun- i am addicted) for- such a gorgeous blend of happy colors- *and* the sweater is looking quite smashing too- congrats on a getting over your sweater syndrome-
stash storage? surely you jest! as you know we have a really large house, and yarn and needlework oddments have a bad habit of lounging around in every room- i do have some in designated areas (several bookcases) but opening any drawer or cabinet door is almost a guaranteed way to find hanks, skeins, or balls of yarn that i put away because sheer inertia kept me from ever getting organized- i call my method ‘relaxed storage’-
stay happy-
Ev - You mean all I have to do to get the stash under control is move? Well now, that bears thinking about :)
Colleen - Well, at least you know where it is :) I assume the slamming of the door is so that it doesn’t escape?
Barb - You have no idea how much your relaxed approach appeals to me :) I see yarn peeking out of the silverware drawer, out from under the tea cozy and stuffed into the center of toilet paper rolls. I don’t see a problem!
But Myria - she’d have a problem and if, in extremis, she happened to grab the yarn for a necessary task rather than the toilet paper, I would also have a problem :)
Yep - it DOES tend to go on & on. I’ve always been a bit dissatisfied with how she finishes up the story. Honestly, I don’t know if she’s leaving room for even MORE books in the series or what. All the books are worth reading, but nothing compares to the first trilogy. :)
Bron - Well I finally finished it at about 3:00 this morning whilst wondering where my need to sleep went. The Fool reminds me of Stark (Farscape) for some reason and if I were casting the movie, I’d be looking for that actor. Fitz? Jason Carter (Marcus/Babylon 5)
