Headaches Just About Gone…

Firstly, thank you all for your good wishes.  When you feel like crud, it’s nice to know there are people out there hoping you feel better.  The fever was done with me by late Sunday but the headache just hung on and on until yesterday when it finally seemed to loosen its talons a bit.

So I worked on this yesterday afternoon and evening:

Kid's helmet hood

Child’s helmet hood

This is a kind of pull on hood with a lower bit that goes out over the shoulders and down the back and chest a little.  The pattern is for two-needle construction but once I’ve gotten it done, I may be able to figure out how to do it in the round.  It’s supposed to be for a child - I don’t really have a good idea of size yet - but I’m guessing a small child.  I hope to finish it up tonight and I’m hoping to talk Goldie into modeling it for me.  Yeah, that’ll work :)

I’ve also got to try and think of some way to dress it up a tad, or spark it up or something.  It’s a child size but it’s an adult color - muted, dark and sensible.  Definitely got to do something about that :)

The amaryllis in the kitchen popped a third blossom this week and there’s a fourth yet to come.

Amaryllis

Amaryllis

A nice thing to have in the middle of winter.  We’ve got one “sleeping” in the refrigerator too that we should take out and “wake up” before too much longer :)

  3. glad you are feeling better now- you have had a merciless bout with the plague of 2005 it seems-that beautiful amaryllis should brighten your days too- i have some hyacinths that i am forcing, but they aren’t yet at the blooming stage-

i’ve printed out a couple of patterns for the little hoods etc too, but so far my one-track mind hasn’t let me get around to trying one- i’m in the midle of creating a ‘hat’astrophe here right now and am obsessively making little caps- i do like the way that hood looks really thick and warm- umm, maybe i should go down a couple of needle sizes or double my yarn on these hats- it’s hard to wrap my mind around the concept of such cold as ryan has described in the place the hats will be used, as i keep thinking in ‘texas terms’ and a thick cap would cause swoons from heat prostration here-

    stay happy-

  4. Barb - I’ve wondered about that too - making things thicker and denser than I would normally.  You know, I think you’re onto something there :)

  5. Yay! I’m so glad you’re back and feeling better!  The hood is very interesting, I wouldn’t mind trying one of those out.

  7. Laura - Thanks.  I’m going to work out how to do this in the round - there’s no reason this couldn’t be made more easily and quickly and without seams!
