Yesterday I finally came to a firm decision about making some Christmas presents and it looks like there’s going to be quite a few. I suppose it’s a bit late to be starting, but I have high hopes that things will go well - and they’re not big or terribly complicated things at that. I just finally realized that I been the recipient of a great deal of kindness this year and need to show my appreciation.
Thank goodness I already have some nice material stashed away. I would hate to work in what I could afford to buy at this point! LOL. It’s the Classic Elite Follies I’ve been hoarding. I had thought I might make a sweater out of all the lovely, companionable colors - but this is more important and will be, I believe, more gratifying. And I should be an expert splicer by the time I finish these projects!
These are the colors I have and believe me, they are really, really gorgeous!

Mint green

Lavender

Cadet Blue

Evergreen

Rhubarb
There are four women and two men on the list. For two of the women, I will probably make earrings or maybe little knitted, beaded bags with something fun inside like a chocolate orange - or something like that. For the other three, the cabled mitts or scarves might be more appropriate. For the two guys, well, I really haven’t a clue so it will probably be scarves in an acceptable masculine color and non-lacey style :)
So I’m going to be a busy knitter for a while - which is a nice thing. I tend to like shorter projects and these fit the bill nicely - if I can just get everything done by the middle of next month!
No trackbacks yet.
Oh, Robbyn those colors are beautiful! They are going to make wonderful gifts. What lucky people (and they don’t even know it yet).

Dawn - The colors are great aren’t they? I was fortunate to have this yarn in the stash because I’d never be able to afford to buy it now. Talk about the right stuff in the right place at the right time!
really pretty colors, especially the cadet blue and the evergreen- i’m sure you will make good use of it too- splicing the little yarn sniglets is something that tries my (very limited) patience so when i do manage to actually produce finished items they tend to be solid-colored globs-
do you think there might be a way to delay christmas by a few months so i could get one or two things completed? every year i make great plans in january and november finds them still in the planning stage- i live in the great country of procrasti’nation’-
stay happy-

Barb - Ha! I don’t believe it. You have a lot on your plate most of the time - I’m surprised you manage to get any knitting done at all. Procrastination - my Aunt Fanny! :) But another couple of months would be nice!
If you don’t have time to knit scarves for the men, how about knitting up some nice washcloths and pairing them up with a big bar of some manly soap?
Charlotte - Thanks for the suggestion :) Given the luck I had with scarves tonight, I might just have to consider something a bit less time consumptive!
As the others have said, beautiful colors! Like you, I’m putting Christmas things on the front burner - hopefully I can get everything finished. Otherwise some people will be getting a lovely card and an IOU!
Bron - You know it! I guess I’m going to get to see how nimble these fingers really are :)
