This seems to have been a weekend of transformations - well, a Sunday of transformations anyway :) I didn’t do much of anything constructive on Saturday…
But on Sunday, I turned this…
I also turned this…
Have I mentioned how much I love my swift?
On Saturday, I received a small package in the mail from dear Maureen at Irishknits. It was a tremendously pleasant surprise! Imagine how warmed I felt when I saw these…
Today I need to get some shopping done and I hope to get a few more inches worked on the Seeds sweater. We’ll see - despite the aggressive greenness of the newly dyed yarn, it seems to be calling to me!
No trackbacks yet.
Maureens slippers are great! What a nice treat. She loves those fuzzy feet. I might have to check them out and see if I can get some made.
I love your dyed yarn. Wow, everyone’s either going into dying their own or spinning their own. I’m still trying to get 100 things knit in my lifetime.
Sorry I’ve missed Knit Happens but dang, I keep forgetting it’s Thursday night not Friday. I’ll remember it one of these days, I’ll even post a sticky note to my computer.
Take care, enjoy your shopping and I hope to talk to you soon.

That is soo cool that she sent them unfelted! What fun to felt them yourself!
Great idea! Tucking that one away!
Hiya Sheri :) - Nice to hear from you! I have no doubt you’ll manage those 100 things handily. When you can get to Chatters, it will be great to see you!
Denise - Makes sense, doesn’t it, when you want to surprise someone but aren’t sure of their size? And it was a wonderful surprise!
I’m knitting (and felting) those slippers for the women in my family for Christmas. I found a list on the Internet giving shoe sizes in inches so I’m going ahead and felting them. My slippers aren’t coming out particularly thick though. Because I work at Michaels and taught a class on these, I had to use yarn I could get there which was Patons Classic Wool. It felts up nicely but the single strand I used on the slippers didn’t make them thick. Can you tell if your slippers were knit with one or two stands of yarn?
What fun you had! I really like the way The Jade Sea turned out.
Charlotte - I could have if I’d thought to look before I felted it down :) These things are very thinck and dense, but for all I know that’s just the way Lamb’s Pride normally felts!
Opal - Thanks - this dyeing stuff is a lot of fun :)
I am so glad you like them :)
It looks like they felted perfectly. I always use Lamb’s Pride on these because they make such a nice dense fabric. The blue pair I made for me , I used Cascade 220. They are half the thickness of the Lamb’s Pride ones. For Charlotte.... I use one strand of yarn. I love your latest dyeing adventure.
Maureen - They sure did get dense - not one iota of cold is going to get through these things! Thanks you so much :)
The dyeing adventures, they do go on and on and on...call it Indiana Robbyn and the Dyepot of Doom!
Oh I understand. I think my swift is the coolest implement in the house. If the house caught fire Iw would grab the cats and the cello, but if the impending disaster was one that gave me a few more minutes I would grab the swift. I just wound a huge skein of a rayon and mohair novelty yarn I bought years ago—I loved the whole process of winding it and it is even more gorgeous wound. Hmmm, maybe I’ll try to get a good picture of it and post it on my blog tomorrow.
Oh Robbyn, by the way, the honeycomb socks that are next on the list are not the Magknits ones, they are the ones here.
Rob - I’m looking forward to seeing your rayon/mohair; I’m sure it’s spectacular!
Thanks for the pattern link - I will go and look at these right now :)
