Between my attempts to start another shawl in lace weight yarn, and my somewhat more successful venture to find and start another afghan for Myria, this weekend was mostly about crochet.
I got nowhere with the laceweight and I tried both knitting amd crocheting. The best I could come up with was this:
Myria and I have been casually discussing another afghan for her. She uses this one (scroll down) frequently but as it’s very heavy, she thinks she might like an occassional alternative that is somewhat lighter and more suitable for warmer weather. Well, I’m game as I’ve got lots more acrylic stash that I either need to use or give away.
I happened to notice a vial of beads that has been sitting on the coffee table for weeks now. I had gotten them out to try using with something, but it didn’t work out and so the beads sat there. They caught my eye the other day, for some reason, and made me think of the Buttered Toast yarn, so I fetched it out and sat it next to the beads…
I have quite a busy couple of weeks coming up, so The Yarnpath, The Dye Pot and Knitting Chatter are going on vacation for the rest of August. I hope the rest of all your summers is very fine indeed and I’ll see you again after Labor Day!
No trackbacks yet.
Lovely projects as always. Enjoy your time away. I have two batches of company coming for the rest of the month. I would not be able to make Chatters anyway. Look forward to catching up after labor Day.
Maureen - IT will be fun to crochet for a little while for a change - though I cast on another pair of socks last night - for me! Woo hoo! Enjoy your company - with a house by the lake, I guess you’re pretty much guaranteed plenty of that :)
I love the bead/ yarn match - looks like a match made in heaven! (Actually, I saw a great pattern, which would be just right for this combo - I’ll send you the link.
Take care for the rest of August - hope everything is alright.
Nat - I think the colors are quite amazing together! Interesting how things work out isn’t it? Beads that I’ve had lying around for years and yarn that I dyed a few weeks ago. Sometimes, the world’s an interesting place :)
Awwwww....I miss you! You mean we have to wait a whole ‘nuther week? Wonder if you’ll have the lovely medallion project completed?
Bron - That’s kind of you Bron, but I’ll be back next week :) The medsllion afghan will have certainly gotten some more work and I hope the mohair blanket will be completed by then as well :)
Robbyn, have you thoought about contributing a pattern to the ‘knitting pattern a day’ calendar? I was just thinking that some of your designs would be suitable. The site is at http://www.knittingpatternaday.com.
Anne - That’s quite a compliment and I thank you from the bottom of my blushing heart :) I really hadn’t given it any thought but maybe I’ll go and have a look at what they’re asking for.
