Yesterday was one of those days. I had paperwork to wade through in the morning and that really wound me up.
I got a sympathy card from the kind folks who took care of Fluffy for me - I know they mean it kindly, but really - I wish they wouldn’t bother. I just get myself put back together and then there’s this card that rips me up again.
I found a mistake - a bad one in the Pi shawl that meant ripping out nearly two rounds of work. I did get one round ripped back before the mohair snarled so badly I could make no further progress. I’ll try again when I’m not feeling so frustrated. And to top it all off, I couldn’t even knit plain garter stitch last night.
Talk about a useless day :(
So I’m afraid there are no new pictures and nothing to report.
Today I’m back to the laundry to finish up some odds and ends in preparation for a guest that’s coming in the middle of next week. Maybe I’ll bring the mitten with me. Since I started it there, maybe working on it there will be good juju.
Have a great weekend everyone. I should be more cheerful by Monday :)
No trackbacks yet.
Hope your weekend is calm and relaxing… mohair is a terrible thing to rip. Good luck.
as a veteran of far too many days when the ‘frog factor’ plays an big role in *everything* i attempt, i know the frustrated feeling- i think days like that are sent around to keep us humble (and boy, do they ever do that!!!)
ignore the mohair for a little while and have a good weekend-
Chery - Thanks for the good thought. I’ve been considering putting it in the freezer as I have heard that helps when one has to rip mohair. I figure it couldn’t hurt!
barb - Thanks :) I fully intend to ignore it for a bit since it’s either that or throw it in the corner and stomp on it! And I don’t really want to do that; it’s too nice - or is when it’s behaving properly :) You have a great weekend too!
I hope by now (Sat. night) you’re feeling better.
I’m not a “roll with the punches” type of person...I’d throw it in a corner & stomp first, ask questions later. (Guess I never got over my terrible twos.) So I admire your restraint!
Good fiber vibes heading your way for next week.
Thanks Bron - LOL! I’m not good at rolling with the punches either, but this yarn cost too much to have a tantrum on :) Yes, I’m doing a bit better now and may try the shawl again tomorrow :)
Add me to the list of folks sending good fiber vibes your way! I’ll be looking forward to hearing if the freezing helped. By the way, I used your “pick up dropped stitches without a crochet hook” technique to teach someone how to fix an error in their knitting last week. She had knitted several stitches in a row that should have been purled and didn’t discover it until she came upon it working across the next row. I showed her how to fearlessly let the stitch drop out, reposition it on the needles, then correct it, all without a crochet hook, and all without having to rip out 2 looooong rows of baby alpaca. Hope that makes you feel better! :-) Looking forward to seeing you Monday. I miss you!
Thanks for sharing that Caren - I’m glad to know the tip has been useful :)
I’m sorry you were upset about Fluffy’s card. I have all my little Fluff’s toys etc in a small box. After 18 months, I still can’t bring myself to open it, but I know that the day will come when I will be glad I have his little bits and pieces.
Pam - I have all his things too - I never throw anything like that away :) What I’m really glad for though is that I have a few pretty good pictures of him.
