Bowl Find and Conversions

Erk…

I didn’t get to sleep until close to 5:00 this morning - not something I want to make a habit of!  I did, however, get all the patterns converted to PDF format.  The regular HTML link is available, as always, by clicking on the pattern’s name.  The PDF comes up when you click on the here of “PDF here”.

I also found a bowl so that I could give Myria back hers :)

Bowl of yarn

Yarn bowl

This is bamboo, and has a nice, smooth finish.  It’s about 8” wide so it’s stable and holds a couple of projects or several balls of yarn.  I had been kind of holding out for one of the Lantern Moon baskets.  However, I finally got to see them “in person” a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed to find them rougher than I had expected.  I was afraid they would snag both yarns and projects and reluctantly decided that maybe they weren’t what I wanted after all.  Even the small one would have been too big for the coffee table anyway :)

Let me know if you have any problems with the PDFs!
Happy Thursday :)

  1. your insomnia encouraged productivity!! when i can’t sleep, i just get more and more annoyed-

the bowl and yarn make quite a pretty still life-i still have my working project attractively corralled in an empty ‘tidy cat’ container- as i’ve said before, i must have failed ‘aesthetics 101’-

take care (and for goodness sakes, take a nap too)-

  2. Barb - I am not usually so plagued, but if I really can’t sleep, I can’t just lay there and do nothing.  Doing something helps pass the time and I know I’ll get to sleep eventually.  The nap does sound like a wonderful idea, though :)

  3. Robbyn, that yarn bowl is very pretty.  I’ve not been wowed by the Lantern Moon baskets either for the same reason.  My WIPs remain in bags (usually zipper top) so that my little cat-boy hellion doesn’t get to them as easily.

Thanks for PDFing your patterns.  They’re much easier to store that way.  Dumb question, though:  is there an affordable version of Acrobat out there for the casual home user?  The versions I’ve seen have been in the several hundred $ range.

  4. Samina - I didn’t use Acrobat.  I used PDFcreator from SourceForge which is an open source software and free.

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

The above URL will bring you to the main page for the software which has links to the download page.  It probably doesn’t have all the rings and bells of the Adobe product, but it does what I want very simply and easily.

There are several freeware PDF creators out there - plug “PDF creators” into Google and have a look at what’s offered.

  5. That’s a gorgeous bowl.  I love smooth, shiny things.

And I’m sure Myria is very happy to have her bowl back as her own.

  6. Laurie - It’s funny, I wanted something glass or ceramic and passed this up a couple of weeks ago because it was bamboo.

And then went home and couldn’t stop thinking about it…

Yesterday we went back to the shop and it was still there!  So I figured the universe meant for it to be mine :)

  8. Maureen - No genius here, just dead simple software :) And I’m not napping (or knitting, more’s the pity) but I am hoping to make an early night of it!

  9. I’m truly plagued by insomnia - at least several times a month. I’m going to check into the new “Lunesta” drug - being tired enough to sleep isn’t my problem, it’s shutting down my brain. :) That drug promises to help so I’ll be interested to hear what my Dr. says.

You know...if I can actually get in to SEE my doctor! ha!

Lovely bowl - with the knitting it could be a table centerpiece!

  10. Bron - Myria has had sleep issues her whole life and having witnessed how frustrating it can be, you have my complete sympathy.  I only have the occasional sleepless night so when it happens, it’s always a surprise.  Hope the “Lunesta” helps you out :)

  12. Leisel - I know some people have a strong preference for one or the other so both HTML and PDF will always be available :)
