…and if our good fortune never comes, here’s to whatever comes…

Rant…

I read a lot of blogs hosted by Blogspot/Google.  And I like to comment - I mean we all like to get feedback on our posts, right?  I like to do that :)

But I suddenly found, this week, that I couldn’t comment on several blogs that I read regularly because the commenting system had changed.  Now, I either had to sign up for a Google account or I couldn’t comment at all.  Moreover, once this is done, there still isn’t a way for me to link my own blog to the post if it isn’t part of the Blogspot/Google network.

Feh…

On the sock front, I have one down and the second one started.  Still charcoal and ribbing, still blah :) In a way, that’s nice because I don’t have to pay attention to anything, don’t have to worry about colors pooling (there’s have to be colors for that to happen), don’t have to concentrate on an intricate stitch pattern, etc.  It’s surprisingly relaxing knitting :)

I also watched Fiddler on the Roof the other night.  I enjoyed it as much as I did when I saw it in the theatre mumblety years ago :) Awesome, energetic and enthusiastic.  You feeling down, discouraged, tired and less than motivated?  Sit your bum down and put this in the DVD player; I promise you’ll feel better!

  1. grey ribbed socks- sounds like you’ve found yourself in my knitting basket- keep looking and i’m sure a similar pair in beige will show up too!welcome to the wonderful world of the witless!! isn’t it strange though that occasionally something utterly mindless seems to be the best therapy in the world- busy hands and all that stuff!!

oh, knowing your fondness for the walker books, i thought you might like this site:

  2. It’s like Google/Blogger is some kind of evil Star Trek Borg entity and they’re trying to take over the world. Resistance is futile. :(

  3. Barb - The wonderful world of the witless?  You mean I only made it just now?  You haven’t talked to my highschool math teachers, have you :)

It’s funny.  I approached the project with mild apprehension because of the color (or lack thereof) and the mindlessness of the pattern - only to find that I’m rather enjoying the whole thing.

    Don’t tell dad, though…

  4. Opal - The whole shebang makes me grind my teeth in frustration.  What am I supposed to do?  Never comment again on blogs I’ve been reading and commenting regularly on for years?

I have figured out how to include a blog link however :) I’m sure that ability will be turned off in a week or so…

    Cynical?  Me?

  5. Fiddler on the Roof - so much fun!  My sister played the oldest daughter in a high school production (which was surprisingly professional!) mumblety years ago.  I so enjoy it.

  6. Kathleen - As you can see from my response to Opal’s comment above, I often have a jaunduced view of the world and my fellow human beings.  This movie changes all of that cynicism into hope and even faith - at least for three hours :)

And, while I picked up my knitting at the beginning, it sat - for the most part - in my lap, ignored.

  7. You probably already figured this out, but if you edit your blogger profile, there’s a place where you can put your website URL.  So, if someone clicks on your name in the comments, they’ll be directed to your profile, and they can click on “webpage” in your profile to be taken to your blog.

Pain the in butt, I tell you what.

  8. Marcy - Thanks, yes, I did finally figure that out :)

I believe, in fact, that I’ve worked out what I want to do and, in the end, it’s really not that tough.  It also, IMHO, should be unessecary, but then I’m not making a bid for world domination :)

  9. I think part of the problem was SPAM!  Blogger comments were getting so much SPAM unless the blog owner set the right settings (for verification and such) that Blogger decided they’d do the setting.  Definitely a PITA, but I hope you’ll put up with it for the sake of those of us that continue to use the free space Blogspot provides!  Thanks so much!  :) bouncy.gif width=19 height=19

  10. Kathleen - No worries :) I’ve worked it out - I mean, I had to!  I didn’t want to stop reading any of the blogs that have become my friends :)
