I’ve been working on the circular shawl and the gift mitts pretty exclusively and will continue to do so over the holiday weekend. I’d really like to get the mitts done before my next hospital visit next Tuesday so I can pass them along. Myria thinks I should wait until closer to Christmas and she does have a point. But I keep thinking about how the weather is getting colder and that they will be useful far in advance of December 25th. So I’m going to try to get them done :)
Dad and I are headed up to a nice restaurant in New Hampshire this afternoon for our Thanksgiving dinner. The place isn’t open tomorrow, so we’re going to go today. It’s a nice compromise since neither of us is up to cooking a big dinner and Myria isn’t a big holiday celebrator (celibratrix?) anyway.
Tomorrow, I will break out the traditional Christmas films - not, you know, generally traditional, but chez-wolfandturtle traditional - starting with Miracle on 34th Street. Of course the amazing and wonderful Hogfather will get worked into the rotation as well. Maybe twice…

See the Knitting Chatter button on the side bar for more information.
I’ll have the Chat room open Saturday night, though I realize that those of you in the states may be traveling and/or visiting with family and friends. Should you find yourself in the virtual neighborhood, do drop in! I’ll break out the eggnog (it’s time!) and gingerbread.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday (and remainder of the week as well!) whether it’s a holiday for you or not :)
No trackbacks yet.
I had no idea The Hogfather was made into a movie! I’m putting it on my queue pronto! I totally adore all things Discworld.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving! We’re having our family celebration tonight—I’m cooking—because of family work schedules for tomorrow. One member works in the morning at a nursing home; another works afternoon/evening at a hospital. Two others work in retail which means the weekend wasn’t good so tonight was when everyone was available. So far, I’ve baked pies and have the stuffed turkey in the oven. It’s about time to get back to the general tidying up I need to do.
On the knitting front, I’m working on the matching hat for my nephew (to match his son’s). I decided to leave the miscrossed cables in the christening blanket.
Happy Thanksgiving, Robbyn! Hope you are keeping well. You are fortunate to have this November holiday. We have the long wait until Christmas. Enjoy dinner with your Dad.
Opal - Not only was it made into a movie (well, it was actually done in two parts for TV) it was fantastically done. I envy you - about to see it for the first time! You’re in for a real treat :)
Hi Charlotte! Sounds like you’re having a busy day. I sure hope things quiet down enough over dinner for you to relax and enjoy. And I seriously hope you’ve assigned the clean-up duty to someone else!
Hi Anne :) Thanks for the good wishes - dad and I had a pleasant time and a lovely dinner. But as far as the American marketplace is concerned, there’s no such thing as Thanksgiving. The Christmas onslaught began immediately after Halloween :/
Oh well…
Although we do not celebrate Thanksgiving here, I am thankful to have a friend in you Robbyn. I look forward to seeing the mitts. I’m hopeless at hanging onto surprises etc like the mitts, and would be giving them early too!
Nat - And I am likewise thankful, my friend - and not only on Thanksgiving :)
One mitt is within a couple of rounds of being complete and the second should be cast on this evening!
