The Purls on the Sock go ‘Round and ‘Round…

The sock is nearly done, though I haven’t made as much progress on it as I would have liked.

Overall, I’m quite happy with it though I think the foot is a bit long.  That’s not a serious issue as I don’t like my toes crowded :)  I did find a bit of a burble as I was checking things last night, though…

Close up of purl stitches

Oooops!

I found these two purl stitches right in the middle of the sole.  In the interest of honesty, I show them to you.  Sigh - zigged when I shoulda zagged :)  I’m not going to go back and fix them, however, since I’ll be walking on them and nobody but me (and you good folks - and you won’t tell, right?) will ever see them.

I finished the second baby hat last night and that too, took longer than I had imagined.  That’s all my own doing though, as I decided to incorporate one of my favorite frivolities - bobbles :)  I did one in every K2tog when I got to the decreases so they sort of spiral up the cap.  I think it’s kinda cute, but the bobbles were really tough on my hands (this one was done on one circular) so I’ll probably re-think the method if I decide to do it again.

Now I have to find somewhere to store this stuff as I get it finished - a bag in the closet or something like that.  I’m thinking that I should try to make one little thing for the bag every time I complete something for myself.

Oh, and a question, if you don’t mind :)  Both these little chapeaux come to a bit of a point at the top making them resemble the onion domes of the Kremlin somewhat.  While I think that’s kinda cute (and the hats are certainly serviceable as is), it isn’t the nice, spherical shaped dome one usually sees on a watch-type cap.  Anything I can do about that?  Will it smooth out with wear?

I’m going to be out running around today, so I don’t know how much knitting will get done.  I guess we’ll find out in tomorrow’s post :)

Have a good one, friends!

Little, Tiny Hats :)

I took a bit of a break yesterday to do something different.  Not different different see, just different for me.  And go ahead and chortle - you all have probably done dozens of these things - apiece!

Baby Hat

Baby Hat I

Have you been here - Mossy Cottage - lately?  Go and take a look at the post for Monday, January 31st.  I’ll wait :)

This seems to me to be a worthy project and so I’m going to spend some time and yarn and try to contribute to it.

Why’s the hat special?  Because I’ve never made a standard, in-the-round hat before.  This is the first one and I think it’s just adorable.  I used this pattern from Oooh Baby Knits (scroll down just a skosh) which was simple, direct and easy :)  I cast on yesterday afternoon and, practically before I knew it, there was this little, tiny hat - suitable for a grapefruit…or a baby :)  I was so tickled with it…

...that I immediately started another one which I will finish today.  I’ve never knit things for kids before so the sizes seem odd to me - I expect mittens will be a real eye-opener, and socks as well :)  Still, what the heck.  It couldn’t hurt and whatever I can manage to get done might help.

Wouldn’t that be awesome?
