We’ve been having the damndest hot spell - up to and over 90ºF for a couple of days and in the mid-eighties for several more. Right now, at 8 or so in the morning, things are fairly comfortable but there hasn’t been a lot of shawl knitting going on. Well, that’s not exactly true - I worked on it a bit last night - while the air-conditioning was on :)
Man, do I enjoy working on this! I love the colors, I love the entrelac, I love imagining it complete and gorgeous (of course!) and being able to wear it whenever I want.
Well…probably not in the 90º heat :)
My order hasn’t arrived from Knit picks yet - the one with the rest of the yarn for the Secret of the Stole and I’m trying not to get nervous about it. I know a great many of the participants are ordering Knitpicks lace weight yarns and I expect they’re pretty busy right now. The KAL starts a week from today and I have enough yarn to start with - but I’ll be a slightly happier camper when the rest arrives.
Anybody tried their new Harmony wooden needles? Frankly, I’m so pleased with the metal ones, I’m not sure I want to bother trying the wood. And I’m kind of iffy on the multi-color thing - the needles are pretty, certainly, but won’t it be visually confusing when the yarn is added? Probably not - and I’m probably the only person in the world who would worry about such a goofy thing. Heheh….
So - I’ve got an entrelac shawl and a pair of Persephone’s socks (working the heel flap now!) in the works. Come next Friday, I’ll have a stole going as well. Any reason not to start something else in between?
Didn’t think so :)
Chatters is on for tomorrow night - same time, same place (see info on sidebar if you’re new). Come join the fun!
Have a great weekend everyone :)
No trackbacks yet.
Just checking in… I see you have been busy as always :)
That looks like a cool sock pattern. I look forward to seeing the progress.
Hey Maureen! I’m greatly enjoying this sock pattern and it is a challenge so it’s not exactly zipping along. But it is coming along and I am rather enjoying the sensation of learning something :)
well geez, robbyn- you have plenty of time to start another half dozen projects- i do admire people who proclaim (and really mean) that they only have x number of projects in progress at any given time, but i cannot follow their example- of course my lack of attention to any one particular thing can lead to interesting results, as i often come across a blob of yarn with a couple of inches knitted and put on string or something to keep it together without any remembrance of what it was going to be or what sized needles i was using- i know there is a simple solution to that problem, but pinning a note to the project might signal a bit of organization, and i cannot allow that to interfere with my wishy-washy ways!
stay happy-
Barb - I’ve spent most of my knitting life piling up UFOs (in the cabinet, on the coffee table, etc…). For the time being, things are relatively contained and I’m kind of enjoying that. However, I’m not so naive as to believe things will actually remain orderly. I think some part of me enjoys the chaos of multiple projects and plans with no real structure :)
What awful weather you all are having! Ew!
I was another one that was concerned about the colors of the Harmony needles. I don’t like my yarn to clash with my tools. :-P
Can’t wait to see what you start next. New projects are just so delicious.
Opal - I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who has concerns about the colored needles. On the other hand, they are pretty cute :)
The weather has, however, moderated. It was dry, sunny and in the low 70s all day today. Yipee!
I also don’t know if I would like those colorful needles. I wondered if their busyness would distract me. I can’t knit looking down onto busy carpeting either. It makes my eyes go buggy.
Lisa - Hmmm - I hadn’t thought about that but I can sure understand the problem.
I always notice restaurant carpets because they often have a busy pattern to help hide stains and spills.
Good thing we don’t knit in restaurants isn’t it?
