I was supposed to get together with friends for a Christmas lunch today, but the weather has make that unlikely. We had ice last night - lots and lots of ice…
These pictures were taken through my kitchen window, so please forgive their lack of clarity - I just didn’t want to go ouside.
This is the neighbor’s tree, half of which now lies in our back yard. Providentially, despite all the things that could have been damaged (cars, garage roof, etc…) nothing but a few plants by the fence there were in the way.
I haven’t seen anything like this since I was a kid - there’s ice all over everything. It was a combination of the temperature hovering around freezing and a storm coming through that dumped as much as four inches of rain on the area. So there’s also flooding.
I do have to get to the pharmacy sometime soon, but I’m going to wait until this afternoon when driving conditions should be better.

See the Knitting Chatter button on the side bar for more information.
Chatters is on for tomorrow evening, should you have the time and the inclination :) Hope to see you there!
No trackbacks yet.
Oh, those winter storms. Seems we’re in for one, too, with temps colder than we’ve seen in 20 years. Perfect time to stay inside and knit!
I won’t be around for Chatters this week; we have company (if you can call Brent company) coming for p&b… pizza & beer (his treat). :)
Take care!
eek! that’s scary stuff! there was a storm that went through here yesterday that kept me indoors, but it was nowhere near as intense as that. i feel like such a wuss now! :-D
Ev - Enjoy your company! And I may adopt your plan of pizza and beer - both of which sound about perfect for a Saturday night :)
Opal - I can’t see you being a wuss - you’re not the type :) I expect we get very different kinds of storms, you and I, and this sort of thing is unusual even here. Good thing too, because ice causes so much damage.
Doesn’t sound like things are getting better. Hope you are staying warm and comfortable!
Rob - We had our first real snow last night so no, things aren’t really improving weather-wise and the climate does seem intent on bringing us an early winter.
But hey, that’s the way things fall sometimes. Being a born and bred New Englander, I at least can deal with it. Poor Myria, having grown up in the LA area has a bit more difficulty :)
