You can tell I’m not used to having guests by the amount of knitting I got done over the weekend. Not very much! I guess I had underestimated the amount of knitting I could get done even with Cee here because, well, it’s just talking, right? Well, not exactly. Among other things, Cee had brought the DVDs of a British mini-series (Ultraviolet - well done but unrelievedly grim) that she wanted us to see and that didn’t mean knitting and listening - it meant watching. I think Cee was a little baffled with my knitting - heheh - she’s not a crafty sort of girl, herself. But she’s young; there’s time :)

Needing more cotton
I’m nearly at the end of the yarn I started this project with. It was what I had purchased to make my Monk’s bag with and, because I was scaling down the pattern and not using a yarn even remotely like what the pattern recommended, I just kept buying yarn :) Every time I went out I picked up another ball or two. When I finished the bag, I had a lot left over. As it turns out, though, not quite enough to make the mats with. No problem. I know where it lives :)
I also finished one mitten and got the other one started.

A mitten and a half
And that’s about all I got done :)
Last night, Myria and I admitted, semi-guiltily, that we were glad to have the place to ourselves again. Cee was a good guest, pleasant and always willling to help with cooking and clean-up and we enjoyed having her over and visiting with her. But…it’s nice to get your own space back to yourself.

whenever we have company for any length of time, i am sooo exhausted from living in the manner i want them to think i always live (like eating properly at the table with gasp! flowers in the center and cleaning the kitchen immediately after making a mess) that it takes days to recover- then i always wish i had just taken the time to enjoy the company and not been such a hypocrit!
i always think i will get much more work done on projects than i actually accomplish- right now i am thinking of things to work on during the olympics while knowing quite well i will be jumping up and down cheering or reaching for a hanky to bawl during those heart-breaking ‘human interest’ moments - i should pick out one simple washcloth pattern and hope i will even get that much done-
the ‘batmat’ continues to look really good and might inspire me to make another- the site you referenced had some interesting squares-
stay happy-
I’m a gregarious person that likes a solitary life. So - I really love guests but love it even more when they leave. :) That said, glad you had a good time with Cee! I watched “Ultraviolet” when it aired on SciFi channel (I think!) a few years ago. You’re right - totally grim but SO slick & well produced.
Those are such pretty mittens! And your mat is worthy of pre-prison Martha. :::Grin::: Makes me itch to start that kitchen rug I’ve been contemplating…but not before I finish at least *one* more project. Yep…I’ll finish something first….you betcha…that’s what I’ll do….not a problem….
Hmmmm…wonder if Hobby Lobby is having a Red Heart sale? :::teehee:::
barb - Glad I’m not the only one :) It was a nice visit and she’s a nice kid, but I so like having my house to myself again! I even slept last night!
Bron - Pre-prison Martha, eh? Heheh - I am enjoying making it - simple and stupid as it is. We even discussed making another set to “swap off” with - but I might look into using a nicer, softer cotton if I make another set.
I’m looking at other rug patterns as well. We could use them.
I like the mittens too - and they (well the first one, anyway) fits perfectly!! And they’ll go with my funky hat :) And I may get a scarf out of this yarn too!
